![]() ![]() ![]() | Crossing Sierras of Gerês and YellowThe "Travessia das Serras do Gerês e Amarela", is a two-day trekking activity, which crosses two of the four mountain ranges of the Peneda-Gerês National Park and has a total distance of 47 km's. Walking part of the recently created GR50, we will take you on an immersive course through some of the magnificent slopes, meadows and summits of those mountains. The first day of the crossing of the Serras do Gerês and Amarela, will start in the village of Pincães. The participants will travel through the central area of the Serra do Gerês, passing through such iconic sites as Pé de Cabril, Mêda da Rocalva, Cotelo de Pias or Cascata de Pincães, crossing the rivers Fafião, Pincães, Conho and other tributaries. On the second day, already in the village of S. João de Campo (Campo do Gerês), the activity will take place mostly in Serra Amarela, an area that also the Garrano horse likes to ride. This route will have as points of interest, the passage in Alto da Louriça, (1360 meters) where you can also contemplate the Serra da Peneda and Soajo, the valley of the river Lima. The visit to the ruins of the village of Vilarinho das Furnas, near the banks of the Rio Homem will also be a point of interest of this second day of trekking. This is an excellent opportunity for trekking lovers to visit some of the highest points of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, enjoy unique landscapes, rest in shepherd's refuges and enjoy the silence of the mountain. Participants should carry food and clothing for each of the days of activity. Adventours will be able to transport a backpack with a maximum capacity of 30 litres/person, from the place where the activity begins (Pincães) to Campo do Gerês at no additional cost. Due to the distance and unevenness of this activity, we classify it with medium/high level, advised to people with trekking experience with equal or superior distance to the one announced and therefore with a good physical condition and that they practice exercise in a regular way. Crossing "Barroso" Lands![]() | "Crossing the Barroso", is a two-day trekking activity, which goes through the easternmost part of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, already belonging to the municipality of Montalegre. These Barroso lands have a secular history, because already in the 12th century, Benedictine monks settled in a monastery and today it is an obligatory visiting bridge for those who pass through here. In these two days of pedestrian routes, partly traversing the recently created GR-50, the Adventours team will take you to one of the border points with neighbouring Spain, Fonte Fria. crossing the Ribeiro das Aveleiras area with its oak and hazel woods, on a route marked by huge granitic lakes and proeiminating rocky elevations. The first day of the Barroso crossing will start in the village of Pitões das Júnias. The participants will travel through this eastern part of Serra do Gerês, where the hard work of agriculture and pastoralism takes place, but almost without realizing it, such is the peace with which these lands involve us. Crossing the area of Ribeiro das Aveleiras with its oak and hazel woods, on a path marked by the enormous granite slabs but also by the prominent rocky elevations, we will head towards the eastern "heart" of the National Park, where the wolf also marks territory. But it is not only him, for the mountain goat (Pyrinaica) can also be sighted, if we are awake. After a comforting dinner and rest, we return to the activity on the second day, already strengthened by a great breakfast at our accommodation partner. We walked through the ancient streets of Pitões das Júnias, towards the famous Chapel of St. John. During the journey, the passage through the Mata do Beredo presents us with its magical shadows. This is an excellent opportunity for Trekking lovers to visit some of the most iconic points of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, such as the village of Pitões and its monastery. Enjoy unique landscapes, delight in local cuisine and contemplate the riches that the mountain offers us. Participants should carry their food and clothing for each day of activity. In this outdoor activity, the use of personal protective equipment such as a mask is not mandatory. However, it will be the participant's choice whether or not to wear it. In contrast the rule of physical distance of 2 m side by side and 4 meters in a row is mandatory and must be complied with during the activity. Whoever is infected or with symptoms of Covid-19 cannot participate in our events. Non-compliance with these rules may lead to exclusion from the activity.
